337_200Our teaching suite of five classrooms and two language labs is on the first floor of the theatre block. Every seat in the language labs has a PC and headphones, so you can work at your own pace – and using our new digital hardware you can talk to anyone in the class, not just the person next to you. There's instant access to resources you can watch and listen to on the PCs and massive memory space for recording and playback.

All the teaching rooms have interactive whiteboards and visualisers. GCSE and A-level students have sessions to develop their skills in the spoken language with assistants or staff who are native speakers of the language being studied.

The students think of modern languages as being one of the most IT-centric subjects.

All the languages we teach are supported on our computers, so keyboards, spell checkers and accents or scripts are available for French, German, Italian, Mandarin Chinese, Russian and Spanish. We can receive satellite television in all six languages as well and we record the news in each language once a week for A-level linguists.

We subscribe to educational magazines for each language and the school library also takes leading broadsheet newspapers from China, France, Germany, Italy, Russia and Spain.
