0479_200We've just refurbished the Celia Johnson Theatre and improved the backstage facilities, so now there's even more to get involved in – whether you enjoy being on stage or behind the scenes.

When the theatre was refurbished, we got a really great workshop for costumes and props. We’re getting more adventurous and creative now, designing for ourselves.

The 168-seat theatre has a digital multiplex lighting system with floodlights and spotlights on motorised lighting bars, a follow spot, a big screen back projector and a 72-channel lighting desk. For sound, there's an eight-channel sound mixer and microphones for the performers. We've also got a dock which uses the full height of the building for storing tall scenery and a large theatre workshop for costumes and props with four sewing machines.

We can use the main theatre with the classic proscenium arch or in the round. There’s also a drama studio for smaller-scale, more intimate productions with its own sound system and 24-channel lighting desk. We can even use the great hall, with its full theatrical lighting system, and the dance studio in the sports hall if we want.
