What do you know and what do you believe? It’s more important than ever in today’s world to be able to make informed judgments about religious and moral issues. That’s why we’ve expanded our teaching to offer GCSEs and A levels in religious studies, although we go well beyond the syllabus to reflect on ethics and current politics. When it comes to coursework we offer a wider range of topics than probably any other school – and we use our links with university departments so that students can get hold of the texts they need. In years 12 and 13 we don’t simply "teach" subjects, as most schools do. We supervise students as they do their own individual research. So it's the closest thing you’ll find to the university experience.
We believe in learning about religion but also in learning from religion. Besides getting to know the beliefs and values of the major world faiths, we guide students to evaluate moral arguments independently and pursue the search for spiritual meaning throughout their lives. Taking full advantage of our London location, we've got a regular programme of visits to places of worship – and thanks to our partnership with a predominantly Muslim school in Southall, girls from different social and faith communities are able to learn from each other.
