You are here: Home What we offer Departments Geography

0750_200Flooding, biofuels and even the congestion charge – you just need to look at the news to see how humans are changing their environment and how the environment might be changing us. Studying geography at St Paul's means getting to grips with topical issues and looking behind the headlines to understand the processes that affect our world. Right from the start, you'll be involved in independent research projects, debates and role plays to help you appreciate the complexity of the problems we face in the 21st century.

Sometimes the pleasure of teaching geography comes after students have left and they send you postcards from around the world telling you about things you’ve taught them.

To support our teaching, we subscribe to several geography magazines, we’ve stocked the library with books on the themes you’ll be researching and one of our teaching rooms has its own IT suite so that we can use the latest resources such as Google Earth. London and the South East offer a wealth of sites for fieldwork and we’ve visited places including Docklands, Epping Forest and the south coast. There have also been visits overseas to locations such as Iceland, so that we can explore an even greater variety of environments.
