Information on scholarships available
We award scholarships in recognition of a girl’s outstanding performance in our entrance examinations or in a specialist area, eg music.
The following scholarships are awarded in year 7:
- up to four music scholarships (£100 a year plus free tuition in one instrument and expert chamber music instruction in an ensemble), after an audition, and successfully completing entrance tests.
- up to four academic scholarships (£250 a year), based on performance in the entrance tests.
The following scholarships are awarded in year 12:
- up to two music scholarships for current girls (£250 a year plus free tuition in two instruments), awarded at the recommendation of senior music teachers.
- up to two music scholarships for new joiners (£250 a year plus free tuition in two instruments), awarded on the basis of written and practical tests.
- up to two art scholarships (£250 a year) for internal and external candidates. Applicants for the art scholarships attend a Saturday workshop with our art staff and submit a portfolio.
- We also award internal scholarships (£250 a year) for academic distinction in an optional project completed at the end of year 12 .
- Nora Day music scholarship (worth up to 50 per cent of school fees plus free tuition in two instruments) is awarded by the Rowan Education Trust for a girl who shows exceptional musical potential. This is a means-tested award.
