Children have a fundamental right to be protected from harm and students cannot learn unless they feel secure. Our safeguarding policy aims to promote a school environment that fosters self-confidence, self-worth and the knowledge that we will listen to and act upon our pupils' concerns.
A designated member of staff, Paul Vanni, deputy head is responsible for child safeguarding. He and the High Mistress work together to ensure that all staff members are aware of government and local authority safeguarding guidelines and to liaise with other relevant agencies. We expect all our staff to provide a safe and supportive environment in which students can develop the confidence to voice their ideas and opinions. Every member of staff receives training in child safeguarding and we expect them to know how to report any concerns they may have. We make all appointments in accordance with government guidance on recruitment in schools. We make rigorous checks on candidates and take up all references before we confirm appointments.
