Senior School Scholarship 2011

Every year girls in the VII (Year 12) are given the opportunity to undertake a piece of individual research over the summer and apply for one of our Senior School Scholarships. This year there were 66 entries

and, as ever, the standard was extremely high. Congratulations to all those who entered.

Scholarships have been awarded to:

  • Katherine Backler:  Omnia vincit amor: Lovers and victims in Virgil
  • Malika Shah:  To what extent does Jose Hernandez portray Martin Fierro as a figure of social reform?
  • Sanjana George:  ‘Invisiblity cloaks, hidden submarines and powerless earthquakes’: An exploration into the potential applications of metamaterials
  • Georgia Richards:  The Journey to 40N: an analysis of iceberg movement and distribution along ‘Iceberg Alley'

The following were highly commended:

  • Iman Ahmedani:  Bursting the bubble: An overview of virus mediated gene therapy to cure X linked severe combined immunodeficiency
  • Emma Dougall:  Joan of Arc: Deciphering a legend
  • Hebe Foster:  ‘There are obviously no pure languages, for all give and receive’
  • Roberta Barr:  Harmonographs: Maths, Music and Art
